InviteTrip Inc. · Version 1.0 · Effective September 9, 2026
Referred to in our Terms of Service as "the Safety Policy". Both names mean this document.
Residents of Colorado should also read our separate Colorado Safety Policy, which is published to meet specific requirements of Colorado law.
In short
- We check identity documents. We do not run criminal background checks on anyone. A Verified mark means a person's ID looked genuine and the face matched. It says nothing about whether they are safe.
- You can report a profile or a single message at any time. Reports are confidential and the person reported is never told who reported them.
- You can block or unmatch anyone, immediately, without explanation.
- Traveling to meet someone is different from a local date. Your friends are not twenty minutes away. Read section 9 before you book anything.
- Sex without consent is a crime. Nothing that happens on InviteTrip, including accepting a trip or accepting hospitality, is consent to anything.
1. What this policy covers
InviteTrip connects adults who want to travel together. That means people meeting strangers, often far from home. This policy sets out what we prohibit, what we check, what we do when something goes wrong, and what we ask you to do to look after yourself. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
2. Criminal background screening
INVITETRIP DOES NOT CONDUCT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND SCREENINGS ON ITS MEMBERS.
INVITETRIP DOES NOT CONDUCT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS ON ANY MEMBER BEFORE PERMITTING THAT MEMBER TO COMMUNICATE WITH ANY OTHER MEMBER. YOU SHOULD NOT ASSUME THAT ANY MEMBER HAS BEEN SCREENED FOR A CRIMINAL RECORD OF ANY KIND.
We do not screen members against criminal record databases, sex offender registries, or family violence records, and we do not exclude members on the basis of criminal convictions, because we do not know about them. If we introduce screening in future, we will change this section before we start, and we will say what is checked, how far back, and what it excludes.
This does not mean we accept criminal behavior. Our Terms prohibit it, we act on reports, and we refer serious matters to the authorities. It means only that no member has been pre-screened, and you should not treat the absence of a warning as a clean record.
3. What we do check
Identity verification. A member who verifies submits a government-issued identity document and a live photograph or video. A specialist provider checks that the document appears genuine, that the person presenting it is physically present rather than a photograph or a recording, and that the face matches the document. Members who pass receive a Verified mark.
This confirms a person is who their document says they are, and that they are a real, present human being. That defeats the most common form of fraud on dating platforms, which is a fabricated or stolen identity. It does not tell you anything about their character, honesty, intentions, or history.
Age. Verification also confirms date of birth from the document. InviteTrip is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. Where we have reason to believe an account holder is under 18, we suspend the account pending verification and remove it if the belief is confirmed.
The Real mark. A profile may carry a second mark, Real. It means several verified members of the opposite role have separately and privately confirmed that they met this person in real life and had no safety concerns. Those members are never identified. It is a report of other people's past experience, not a guarantee by InviteTrip, and it does not mean a person is safe to meet.
Photographs. Every uploaded photograph is checked automatically and placed in a queue for review by a person.
Profile text and messages. Profile text is screened automatically. Messages are checked automatically for content that is never acceptable, and messages in a genuinely ambiguous range are additionally assessed in context. Voice messages are transcribed so the same checks apply to speech. Where a message looks like it may cause harm, the sender is asked whether they are sure, and the recipient may be asked whether it bothered them. Confirmed reports create a task for a person to review.
4. Prohibited content and conduct
The Community Guidelines set this out in full. In summary, the following are prohibited on InviteTrip:
Misconduct that threatens public or personal safety. This includes homicide, unlawful sexual behavior, assault, kidnapping, stalking, harassment, involuntary intoxication, robbery, theft, and any other conduct that threatens the safety of the public or another person.
Commercial sexual activity. Soliciting, offering, or arranging any exchange of sexual conduct for money, gifts, travel, accommodation, or anything else of value. This is prohibited absolutely, and it results in permanent removal.
Requests for money. Asking another member for money, a transfer, a loan, financial details, cryptocurrency, or gift cards. InviteTrip provides no way to send money to another member and does not permit members to arrange it. No member is expected to pay for another member's trip: who pays for what is agreed between the two members, and trip costs are paid directly to hotels, airlines, and other businesses, never handed to another member.
Deception. Impersonation, false identity, misrepresenting your age or circumstances, and photographs that are not of you.
Fraud and scams, including romance fraud, investment and cryptocurrency solicitation, and phishing.
Harassment, threats, hate speech, and abuse.
Sexual content involving minors, and any sexualization of a minor, which is reported to the authorities without exception.
Non-consensual intimate images, and sharing another person's private information without consent.
Commercial solicitation, advertising, and recruitment.
5. Consent
Engaging in sexual conduct with another person without that person's consent violates this safety policy, is against the law, and may result in criminal or civil liability.
Consent is specific, it is given freely by the person themselves, and it can be withdrawn at any moment. Nothing else creates it. Not matching. Not a long conversation. Not accepting an invitation. Not agreeing to travel. Not accepting a flight, a hotel room, or a dinner. A person who has accepted hospitality owes nothing in return and is free to say no to anything, at any point, including after saying yes to something else.
Nobody here is expected to pay for anyone else, and if someone tells you that paying for a trip entitles them to anything, that is not how this platform works, and we want to know about it.
6. Reporting
How to report. Every profile and every individual message can be reported from within the app. Reporting takes three steps: choose a category, choose the detail that fits, and add a comment if you want to.
Confidentiality. Reports are confidential. The person you report is not told that you reported them, and is never told who reported them.
What happens next. You get an acknowledgment immediately. Every report is assigned an urgency level, from minor profile issues up to threats and anything endangering safety, and the queue is worked in that order. Reports involving a threat to someone's safety are escalated immediately and alert us directly rather than waiting in a queue.
A person reviews every report. Automated systems sort and prioritize. They do not decide outcomes.
Please do not submit false reports. Reporting someone dishonestly, maliciously, out of bias, or for any other illegitimate reason is itself a violation of our Terms, wastes review capacity that other members may urgently need, and may result in action against your own account.
Emergencies. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. We are not an emergency service, we cannot dispatch help, and we cannot reach you quickly enough.
7. What we do about it
Depending on what we find, we may take no action, issue a warning, remove content, restrict features, suspend an account while we investigate, or remove an account permanently.
Circumstances in which we suspend a profile. We suspend while investigating a report that alleges conduct threatening someone's safety, where evidence suggests fraud against members, where an account appears to have been taken over, and where we need to verify age or identity.
Circumstances in which we bar a member permanently. Any exchange of sexual conduct for value; any sexualization of a minor; any credible threat to a person's safety; sexual assault or violence; fraud against members; and repeated serious violations after warning. We also bar members who create a new account to evade a previous removal.
Law enforcement. Where we become aware of information giving rise to a suspicion that a criminal offense involving a threat to a person's life or safety has taken place, is taking place, or is likely to take place, we inform the relevant authorities and preserve the records.
8. Appeals, and telling you what happened
If we act against your account, we tell you what we did and why, unless the law prevents us or the account existed to evade an earlier removal.
You can appeal. Write to appeals@invitetrip.com from the address on your account. Someone who was not involved in the original decision reviews it. We aim to respond within 14 days. Appeals against a permanent removal for commercial sexual activity, sexualization of a minor, or violence are reviewed but rarely succeed.
Telling other members. Where we bar a member because we believe they have been attempting to obtain money from other members by fraud, our policy is to notify members who had been in contact with them. That notice identifies the barred account, warns that the person may have been using a false identity or attempting to defraud others, tells members not to send money or financial information to anyone on the platform, and links to fraud guidance. The automated version of this notice is still being built. Until it is finished we send these warnings by hand, which means they go out reliably but not instantly. We will remove this note once the automated path is live. In other cases we do not routinely notify members who had contact with a removed account, because doing so can identify a reporter and, where an allegation is unproven, can do real harm to the person accused. Where we judge that a specific, serious risk to a specific member outweighs those concerns, we tell that member directly.
9. Traveling to meet someone
Most dating safety advice assumes a local date, with friends nearby who could come and get you. InviteTrip is built for the opposite situation. You may be in a country you do not know, without the language, without your own transport, staying somewhere you did not choose, with the nearest person who cares about you several time zones away. That is not a reason not to go. It is a reason to prepare properly.
Before you agree to travel
- Have a video call first. InviteTrip includes video and voice calling, free for every member, precisely so you can do this without giving out a phone number. If someone will not do a video call before a trip, treat that as an answer.
- Search for them. Check that their photographs and story hold up.
- Be suspicious of urgency. Pressure to book quickly, to move to another app, or to keep the trip secret is a warning sign, not enthusiasm.
Book it yourself, and keep control of it
- Book and hold your own travel. Keep your ticket in your own name, in your own account, and keep the ability to change it. Never let anyone else hold your ticket or your return booking.
- Keep your own passport and phone with you at all times. Nobody has a legitimate reason to hold either.
- Have your own accommodation, or at minimum know you can pay for your own. Being able to leave and go somewhere is what turns a bad situation into an inconvenience.
- Carry your own money and a card that works there.
Tell someone at home
- Give a trusted person your destination, dates, accommodation, flight details, and the name, profile link, and photograph of the person you are meeting.
- Agree fixed times to check in, and agree in advance what they should do if you miss one.
- Share your live location with them using the tools already on your phone.
Tell someone local
- Tell the hotel reception, your host, or a friend nearby who you are meeting and when you expect to be back. Someone in the same city who notices you are missing is worth more than anyone at home.
When you arrive
- Meet the first time in public, in daylight, somewhere busy.
- Get yourself there and back. Do not be collected from the airport by someone you have not met, on the first meeting.
- Do not go to a private address on the first meeting.
- Watch your own drink.
- Trust your instincts and leave if you want to. You do not owe anyone an explanation, a reason, or a polite exit. Not after a conversation, not after a flight, not after they paid for something.
Protect your information
- Do not put your last name, email address, home address, phone number, workplace, or other identifying details in your profile or your first messages.
- Anyone capable of identity theft is equally capable of building a convincing dating profile.
- Stop communicating with anyone who pressures you for personal or financial information, or tries to trick you into revealing it.
- Never send money, card details, bank details, cryptocurrency, or gift cards to another member, for any reason, no matter how convincing the story. Every request of this kind is a scam. There are no exceptions.
10. If something happens
If you are in danger, contact local emergency services. In the United States, Canada, and much of the world, dial 911 or your local equivalent. Across the European Union, dial 112. In the United Kingdom, 999 or 112.
If you have been assaulted, your safety and medical care come first. If you may want to report it later, medical care can preserve evidence even if you are unsure now.
Tell us. Report the person in the app or write to us at the address in the Legal Notice. Keep messages rather than deleting them. We preserve records relevant to a report, and we can provide information to law enforcement in response to a lawful request.
Support services. These organizations offer confidential support and are independent of InviteTrip.
- United States. National Sexual Assault Hotline, RAINN: 1-800-656-4673, online.rainn.org. National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233. National Human Trafficking Hotline: 1-888-373-7888. In an emergency, 911.
- United Kingdom. Rape Crisis England and Wales: 0808 500 2222. National Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 2000 247. In an emergency, 999.
- European Union. Emergency number 112 in every Member State. Victim Support Europe lists national services at victim-support.eu.
- Traveling abroad. Your country's nearest embassy or consulate can help if you have been the victim of a crime, have lost your passport, or need to get home. Save the contact details before you travel.

11. The safety measures we operate
For completeness, the measures currently in place:
- Identity verification against a government document with a liveness check, and restricted functionality for unverified accounts.
- The Real mark, based on private confirmations from verified members who met the person.
- Automatic screening of profile text and photographs, with every uploaded photograph placed in a queue for human review.
- Two-layer message safety screening, with a prompt to the sender before sending and to the recipient afterwards.
- Transcription of voice messages so that speech is screened as text is.
- Video and voice calling, free for every member on every plan, so that a call before travel never costs anything. During the founding phase this is open to unverified members too, so a new member is never unable to prove they are real.
- Reporting of any profile or any individual message, confidentially, in three steps.
- Blocking and unmatching, immediate and without explanation.
- Urgency triage, with safety threats escalated directly rather than queued.
- Human review of every report and every enforcement decision.
- Warning to members who were in contact with an account barred for suspected fraud, sent manually while the automated path is being built.
- Permanent removal, and detection of attempts to return under a new account.
- Referral of serious matters to law enforcement.
- No mechanism to send money between members, and a prohibition on arranging it.
- This Safety Center, and safety guidance shown in the product.
We are also building scheduled trip check-ins with alerts to a trusted contact if a check-in is missed. That feature is not live yet, and this policy will be updated when it is. We would rather tell you what does not exist than let you assume it does.
12. Changes
We update this policy as the Service changes. The version number and effective date at the top always reflect the current version.
13. Contact
Report a member: use the report option in the app. Everything else: see the Legal Notice.
